Hello from Maine

Hi Everyone,

I made a recipe the other day with Pillsbury crescent rolls which my husband really liked - so much that he asked me to make it again.  It's called "Cheeseburger Pie".   He also wanted me to get more of your recipes.  So here I am as a new member.  Big Smile

Re: Introduce Yourself to the Pillsbury Community!

Hi everyone!!!!! I am nana123031-- That sounds like a robot name- HaHaHa.

I came to this site in hopes in finding a cake and lord in behaold there it was.. "The Tunnal of Fudge Cake" Wow--- I couldn't beleive it... It is the same cake my mother use to make when I was little and it was Soooooooo Goooooooooood..

My mother tought me how to cook and even though she is no longer with us ---- i still remember the things she told me.... about the kitchen.

Now I am cooking for my family and I love every minute off it.... Ofcourse there are times that I would rather put something in the crock pot and let it cook all day.... Don't we all---

I am wondering if anyone has a recipe for cream puffs????????

If so could you please share it.

Thanks,

nana123031

Re: Introduce Yourself to the Pillsbury Community!

  • 1 cup water

  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons granulated sugar

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 3 to 4 eggs, plus 1 egg for egg wash

For the filling:

  • 2 cups heavy cream

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

To make the cream puffs: Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. In a large saucepan, bring the water, butter, salt, and granulated sugar to a rolling boil over medium-high heat. When it boils, immediately take the pan off the heat. Stirring with a wooden spoon, add all the flour at once and stir hard until all the flour is incorporated, 30 to 60 seconds. Return the pan to the heat and cook, stirring, 30 seconds to evaporate some of the moisture.

Scrape the mixture into a mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Mix at medium speed. With the mixer running, and working 1 egg at a time, add 3 of the eggs, stopping after each addition to scrape down the sides of the bowl. Mix until the dough is smooth and glossy and the eggs are completely incorporated. The dough should be thick, but should fall slowly and steadily from the beaters when you lift them out of the bowl. If the dough is still clinging to the beaters, add the remaining egg and mix until incorporated.

Using a pastry bag fitted with a large plain tip, pipe the dough onto the baking sheet, in 2-inch diameter rounds or balls. Whisk the remaining egg with 1 1/2 teaspoons water. Brush the surface of the rounds with the egg wash to knock down the points (you may not use all the egg wash). Bake 15 minutes, then reduce the heat to 375 degrees F and bake until puffed up, and light golden brown, about 20 minutes more. Try not to open the oven door too often during the baking. Let cool on the baking sheet.

To fill the cream puffs, place a pastry tip on your finger and poke a whole in the bottom of each puff. Whip the cream with the sugar and vanilla until stiff. Pipe whipped cream into each cream puff and chill until ready to serve, no more than 4 hours.

Re: Introduce Yourself to the Pillsbury Community!

Greetings from not-so-sunny Britain!

1) I am here because of my ongoing obsession with the Pillsbury Doughboy.  *love him loads!* :-) There is a chef who has just started working in a local restaurant in town who I swear is the human form of Doughboy and this makes me really chuffed.  I may start stalking him.

Also because I live for cakes and biscuits and I am trying to cook more for myself instead of living on ready meals.

2) My mum tried her best to teach me how to cook.  Unfortunately her attempts failed as most things I cook end up cremated and unfit for human consumption.  I can brew a decent cup of tea and I can operate the microwave.

3) The microwave.

4) Turmeric and other spices as my mum likes making curries, milk, peppercorns and Worcester Sauce.  Yum.

5) Lookie what I made today!!! http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs50/f/2009/324/1/b/Real_Doughboy___XD_by_Airshipgirl.jpg

I actually made something edible...but I simply cannot bear to eat him, it goes against my beliefs as he is too cute.  I think I will bake him and then varnish him and keep him on display.

Big Smile

Other info about me? Erm, I am 26, I live in the UK, I am eccentric, I am a freelance cartoonist/published author, I love aeroplanes, Oreos and boxer dogs.  And I want Doughboy's autograph!!!!

Re: Introduce Yourself to the Pillsbury Community!

I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A "KITCHEN GIRL"; LOVE TO BAKE AND COOK.  MY MOM ALWAYS WAS COOKING UP SOMETHING.  THOUGH,BAKING WAS'NT HER FORTE. NOW,SINCE THE TWO DAUGHTERS ARE MARRIED, IT'S JUST ME AND THE HUBBY.  THE BIGGEST TIME SAVER HAS GOT TO BE THE MICROWAVE FOR REHEATING. I RARELY,IF EVER,COOK IN THE MICRO. I TRY TO BAKE AS MUCH AS I CAN AND TRY TO USE MORE "HEALTHY" ADDITIVES. USING WHOLE WHEAT  PRODUCTS,ANYTHING REDUCED OR LOWFAT AND EGG SUBSTITUTE WHICH MY HUSBAND NEEDS FOR HIS HEALTH AS WELL.  I AM A NURSE,WORK PART-TIME AND HAVE A BIT MORE TIME IN THE KITCHEN.  I TRY TO MAKE SOUP FOR DAD; ONE OF HIS MOST FAVORITE IS ESCAROLE SOUP WITH MINI-MEATBALLS.  MY MOM IS WHEELCHAIR BOUND SO MY SISTER WHO LIVES CLOSE BY BRINGS OVER MANY MEALS FOR THEM. SO,WHEN I VISIT,I TRY AND BRING SOME SOUP.  BOTH MY DAUGHTERS ARE RECIPE COLLECTORS AS WELL AND I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO TELLING THEM ABOUT THIS SITE.  THANKS FOR THE WELCOME.

Re: Introduce Yourself to the Pillsbury Community!

Hi! I have grown up with the Pillsbury brand forever.

I was never taught how to cook or bake, but started on my own after I moved into my first apartment about_____ years ago---too long to remember. I started out trying cookie and candy recipes for Christmas gifts and my passion for baking just exploded. I used to make about 30 Christmas packages of candies, cookies, etc and packaged them myself for people at work for many years--and loved it.

I am now retired and enjoy baking for my church and my 4 great nieces and nephews. We have an annual tradition I started of decorating Christmas cookies each year. The fun we all have is so rewarding and the kids love taking home their "creations" to Mom and Dad for Christmas.

Thank yo so much for letting me be a part of Pillsbury. Like I said, I have grown up with the Pillsbury name---and that little doughboy is just the cutest thing I've ever seen!! Thanks again.

and how to go on line to join your website. I was thankful! I have old recipe books

called Pillsbury Classic' Cookbooks that have great recipes in them and always

liked them. Then, when I saw I could join your club,it makes it more worthwhile.

I have been a collector of recipes for over 40 years but now can copy any on the

computer now to keep. Thank you for welcoming me here,Sally

Re: Introduce Yourself to the Pillsbury Community!

The buttermilk biscuit brought me here. I went to your site to say thank you for making such good product. I have these leftovers and I was wondering what is the best thing to do with the turkey and I discovered that the biscuit can also be an "empanada" dough for my turkey empanada and it was even better using pillsburry. So if you guys are thinking of things to do with your left over then here's the recipe.

Filling:

1 cup shredded turkey

1/4 cup celerey chopped

chopped onions

black pepper and salt

green peas

Cook your filling:

Saute the filling ingredients then set aside to cool

flatten the dough  ( its easy since theyre already round)so just roll and you create a circle

put the filling in the center and top it with cranberry sauce (optional)

fold it then seal the edges with a fork

bake it for 350 degrees for 20 minutes

Make sure you preheat your oven :)

Trust me youll love it! Thank you pillsburry!

Re: Introduce Yourself to the Pillsbury Community!

I just wanted to thank you for letting us print coupons for Pillsbury products here. It is a big help and so nice that this site does this. Maybe that's why Pillsbury has stood the test of time! I love Pillsbury! You can't grow up in America in the 50's and 60's without knowing the Pillsbury name and reputation!!

Thanks again! Smile

Re: Introduce Yourself to the Pillsbury Community!

Hello,

I became a member this evening while viewing the website.

(1) What brought me to the Pillsbury Community? I was viewing the website, and hoping to find a lost recipe, I used years ago when my children were small.  It was called crescent roll lasagne.

(2) Who taught me to cook? Combination of my Dad, Mom, Grandmother and many cookbooks which I continue to refer to over 30 years. I cook for my husband, daughter and enjoy the weekends when my grown children bring my grandchildren and ask for their favorites from their childhood memories.

(3) My biggest time saver in the kitchen my electric mini chopper.

(4) Top ingredients that I most often buy and use, sour cream, green onions, tomatoes, milk and several different cheeses.

(5) I enjoy trying different recipes and let my imagination run wild.

Regards, Donna

Re: Introduce Yourself to the Pillsbury Community!

(1) We love all things Pillsbury.  I'm looking for ideas about quick and easy appetizers, breadsticks, cookies, etc.

(2) My Betty Crocker cookbook and I taught me how to cook.  I mostly cook for my husband, our kids, and myself.  Potlucks and church meals also.

(3) Making two meals at a time, and freezing half for another meal.

(4) Chicken, cheese, usual milk, eggs, bread, butter, etc.

(5) What in the world is pesto?  Is it a spice, vegetable, or what?
