Re: Introduce Yourself to the Pillsbury Community!
Hello Gang @ Pillsbury Comm.!
I am better known as just Mo, but Mo5410 works just as well. I am new to the internet and The Community. Was hesistant to introduce myself, content to just read about everybody else. Be warned, I write like I talk. Keeping it short is hard for me to do.
1) What brought me here...Looking for recipes I knew were from Pillbury. Also,I am a second generation Pillsbury devotee.
2) Who taught me to cook? That is tough. When asked the same question by my sisters, I was told quite emphatically to forget everything my mother taught me. The most wonderful woman you ever met, but she could NOT cook well. But that is another story. I learned some from our housekeeper when I was young and lived overseas, a little from my sisters and the fun stuff I taught myself. I will tackle anything. No recipe is sacred, if I don't like something in it or about it, I change it. My husband says my mistakes are THE best. Sad to say, it is true, but very hard to duplcate. My husband is the only one I cook for much anymore. But, he works nights and comes home for dinner, if you could call it that. He has approximately 20 minutes or less to eat. It irritates me to work so hard on dinner when he has no time to enjoy it, but I refuse to make him eat sandwiches, premade or boxed dinners. I have him spoiled. So....
3) Timesaver? Again, tough. My mandolin is awesome for vegetables and fruits. I love my KitchenAid mixer. I love making bread. If I am in a hurry, I use it to knead the dough, but prefer to do it by hand...exercise. I rarely use the microwave.
4) Ingredients. Can't cook without lemons, all the different cheeses, garlic, balsamic vinegar, and everything else. I have a fullll spice cabinet and two refrigerators, stuffed. Use every bit of it.
5) 1) I talk a lot.
2) My theory on food is that, just because it is considered fancy, it doesn't have to be expensive. When I first was injured and I couldn't work, we had little and no money. We still ate quite well on very simple ingredients. I wish I could remember some of those meals I put together. They were quite good. Don't get the wrong idea. My daughter told us we needed to start eating Ramen noodles to save money. Couldn't go there. We did quite well on hamburger and chicken hindquarters.
I think I have taken enough of your time and patience. Glad to be here.
Sincerely, Mo5410
