Re: Introduce Yourself to the Pillsbury Community!

I am a three time Pillsbury Million Dollar Bake-off finalist. Now my daughter and I have a unique and fun blog called Reel Good Recipes. Great recipes inspired by great movies! We create delicious recipes and post several times a week. Many of our recipes use Pillsbury products. We have something for everyone; light cooking, desserts, kids, breakfast, you name it.

Re: Introduce Yourself to the Pillsbury Community!

Love the products and the creativity...this is the first opportunity to join as the internet is wonderful.

I taught myself how to cook and am an ardent fan of Julia Child's 'if it lands on the sink it goes in the bowl and if lands on the floor sample it!'

Granite counter tops!

Mushrooms, jarred olives with mixed indgredients, fresh everything and a bakery shelf of Pillsbury for the refrigerator.

Hope everyone has a great Halloween to be followed by a great Thanksgiving!  America Cooks!

Re: Introduce Yourself to the Pillsbury Community!

(1) What brought you to the Pillsbury Community?  It seems that a good 10-yrs ago there was a Pillsbury cooking community website, then one day it disappeared without notice.  I just happened to stumble across this message board a couple days ago, so I'm glad to know it exists again!

(2) Who taught you how to cook?  Who do you cook for now?  My Mom taught me how to cook as I was growing up.  After I got married, I continued to learn.  I now cook for my family of 4, which includes my husband, and 2 grown daughters.  One of my DD's is in college, and the other will live with us forever as she's autistic.

(3) Biggest time saver in the kitchen for you?  I cook many things from scratch, but do like to use things like cake mixes (especially reduced sugar) and refrigerated pie crusts.  I'm trying to watch my weight though, so not as much baking goes on now.  I really love to buy the bagged cole slaw mix, as it's great for making quick stir-fries.

(4) Name some top ingredients that are the most often bought (and most often used) in your refrigerator and cupboard.   I buy the basics and cook many things from scratch.  I always have old fashioned oats, skim milk, eggs, fruits and veggies, basic baking and cooking ingredients.

(5) Anything else you want to share!  I try to cook in a healthy manner.

Re: Introduce Yourself to the Pillsbury Community!

Hey!  I finally decide to look at some of the yummy recipes I've seen in online ads.  My Mom and my older sister taught me to cook.  Now I just try to use the basics they taught me in everything I cook.  This has worked out wonderfully.  I love to cook and quite often tweak recipes to my families taste (mine too of course). I cook for my husband and son of course but I have a few specialities that I get requests for from friends and family.  I love to fill the requests because It makes me feel very good inside to make people happy.  I think my favorite time savers have to be my food processer, my mandoline, my mezzaluna, well you get the idea!  I use lots of herbs and spices in my cooking.  My "fridge" is filled with the usual - milk, eggs, butter etc.  I hope this gives everyone some idea as to who I am.  I'm looking forward to using this site in the future!

Re: Introduce Yourself to the Pillsbury Community!

Looking for some way to use Thin Pizza Crust that has just gone outdated other than turning it into standard pizza.  My Mom taught me to cook she would 100 this year so my method of cooking is of the old school style but because of age and more limited ability I love the new convience type foods as long as they stay health, not too fat.  Thanks for the idea of an intro.

Re: Introduce Yourself to the Pillsbury Community!

Hello,

My name is Kim. What brought me to this website is that I'm looking for a recipe that I can't seem to find anywhere. My dad taught me how to cook when I was 8 years old. Now, I cook for my own husband and kids. I use a lot box dinners when I need to make dinner in a hurry. I also make dinners that don't take a long time to prepare. The most used ingredients in my kitchen are flour, eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and sugar.

The recipe that I'm searching for is for a pumkin bread that is rolled out. covered with cream cheese, and rooled into a log. Please let me know if anyone knows it.

 Kim

Hello Everyone:

We are happy you are here!  Thought it would be helpful to have an area for members to introduce themselves. It’s nice to know a bit more about the person behind the post.

These are some things we would love to know about you:

(1) What brought you to the Pillsbury Community?I have grown up with the name Pillsbury and really got into cooking at a very young age.

(2) Who taught you how to cook?  Who do you cook for now?I now train, cook and plan menu's for several hundred people in three states. I am self taught. just "dabbled" in the kitchen till I got married and my wife and I having little money to spare raising children we would cook in the kitchen instead of going out to eat ect.

(3) Biggest time saver in the kitchen for you?Your pillsbury pie crust and my kitchenaid mixer.

(4) Name some top ingredients that are the most often bought (and most often used) in your refrigerator and cupboard. 40% whipping cream, Creaam cheese, lots of flour and misc. baking items.

(5) Anything else you want to share! I have taken my love for cooking, went to Culinary School (mid Life) and changed my career. I have been working as a chef for 20+ years, and have enjoyed the pleasures and rewards of my present position 10+ years as a Corporate Executive Chef overseeing 30+ facilities in three states. I love what I do, and am extremely happy with my decision to change careers.

Sincerely, CateC and ErinD

Re: Introduce Yourself to the Pillsbury Community!

I came to the community in search of a long lost recipe for Halloween Monsters.  I didn't find the exact one, but one that I could adapt, Grands Taco Melts. It worked wonderfully, everyone loved them and there were no leftovers.

My mom taught me to bake when I was nine and I had several blue ribbons for cakes from our county fair by the time I was twelve.  I had to enter in the women's division because I wasn't a member of 4H. I learned to cook in my teens.

Now I cook mostly for my husband and me.

My biggest timesaver is my dishwasher!

I use mostly fresh vegetables, fruit, meats, but rely on frozen and refrigerated foods when I'm in hurry to get things done.

Patty

Re: Introduce Yourself to the Pillsbury Community!

Hello Gang @ Pillsbury Comm.!

I am better known as just Mo, but Mo5410 works just as well.  I am new to the internet and The Community.  Was hesistant to introduce myself, content to just read about everybody else.  Be warned, I write like I talk. Keeping it short is hard for me to do.

1) What brought me here...Looking for recipes I knew were from Pillbury.  Also,I am a second generation Pillsbury devotee.

2)  Who taught me to cook?  That is tough.  When asked the same question by my sisters, I was told quite emphatically to forget everything my mother taught me.  The most wonderful woman you ever met, but she could NOT cook well.  But that is another story.  I learned some from our housekeeper when I was young and lived overseas, a little from my sisters and the fun stuff I taught myself.  I will tackle anything.  No recipe is sacred, if I don't like something in it or about it, I change it.  My husband says my mistakes are  THE best.  Sad to say, it is true, but very hard to duplcate.  My husband is the only one I cook for much anymore.  But, he works nights and comes home for dinner, if you could call it that.  He has approximately 20 minutes or less to eat.  It irritates me to work so hard on dinner when he has no time to enjoy it, but I refuse to make him eat sandwiches, premade or boxed dinners.  I have him spoiled.  So....

3)  Timesaver?  Again, tough.  My mandolin is awesome for vegetables and fruits.  I love my KitchenAid mixer.  I love making bread.  If I am in a hurry, I use it to knead the dough, but prefer to do it by hand...exercise.  I rarely use the microwave.

4)  Ingredients.  Can't cook without lemons, all the different cheeses, garlic, balsamic vinegar, and everything else.  I have a fullll spice cabinet and two refrigerators, stuffed.  Use every bit of it.

5)  1)  I talk a lot.

     2)  My theory on food is that, just because it is considered fancy, it doesn't have to be expensive.  When I first was injured and I couldn't work, we had little and no money.  We still ate quite well on very simple ingredients.  I wish I could remember some of those meals I put together.  They were quite good.  Don't get the wrong idea.  My daughter told us we needed to start eating Ramen noodles to save money.  Couldn't go there.  We did quite well on hamburger and chicken hindquarters.

I think I have taken enough of your time and patience.  Glad to be here.

Sincerely, Mo5410  Sleep
