healthy recipes

Am I the only member on line interested in healthy, weight wise recipes? I enjoy dessert as much as anyone however on our day to day menu we try to eat healthy items including many fresh vegtables , even on our pizza. I don't seem to see many of these items featured. Wonder why ?

Re: healthy recipes

Maybe in two years Pillsbury will consider having a catagory for healthy recipes using various products. I am 65 and since we retired we have both lost over 20 pounds each just eating healthy foods everyday, even healthy desserts and we don't feel deprived. I hope Pillsbury will get on board. ( The new  Pillsbury cookie brand using just pure ingredients is a good start.)

Re: healthy recipes

Thanks for the information, I have used hungry girl but the other one is new to me. When I have a break from my house guests I hope to post some ideas we have used during our past few years that have been successful. I hope someone connected with Pillsbury will focus on everyone's concern for healthy foods because I think we are facing a weight epidemic in our country for adults and children. Eating healthy weight wise food is a challenge but a goal all of us can reach. I include Pillsbury in that challenge, a new twist on the Bake Off contest ?

Re: healthy recipes

Our favorite is a fresh spinach pizza ( wish Pillsbury made a whole wheat pizza crust ) using fresh spinach, mushroom, roasted red peppers, sliced red onion, chopped pepperoncini, sprinkle cheese. Easy, tastes great, add red chile pepper flakes if you like spice. Entered a similar recipe into the bake off but didn't make the cut. Our whole family loves this pizza and I love it because it is quick , easy and healthy. I will share more but for the next two weeks I am busy with our house guest. I will look forward to others sharing their recipes.

I can help! Smile

Have you checked out http://eatbetteramerica.com/

You will find plenty of fantastic and healthy recipes there!

Also, have you looked at http://www.tablespoon.com/

Finally, you can healthier recipes here also.

For example, lets say you type the word "chicken" into Pillsbury.

On the left hand side, there is a bar that can help you narrow down what you want:

For Chicken it says-

Health

High Fiber (77)
Low Calorie
(37)
Low Cholesterol
(50)
Low Fat
(9)
Low Sodium
(14)

Form there you can look at the choices. And please note, all recipes on here have the nutritional info. For example, here is what it said for the Savory Chicken and Peppers.

Hope this helps... Please share your favorite healthy recipes as you try them!
Sincerely, Cate

Re: healthy recipes

Hey Marie, Joan, and Cate,

These are great suggestions for healthy recipes. I also wanted to suggest our website, http://floridacrystals.com/recipe.aspx?id=31, there are some awesome entrée recipes that feature our organic sugar, such as the Teriyaki Salmon. Enjoy!

Re: healthy recipes

I also am interested in healthier recipes.  I love pillsbury however I have a 9 year old son with special diet needs and he's not allowed to eat more than 7.5 grams of fat at a meal.  Which means the fun, usual treats his friends are eating are off-limits to him.  I've learned to substitute several high fat ingredients to accomodate recipes but if anyone has any good idea that doesn't take away the fun or the taste in a kid's meal, I would appreciate hearing them.

thanks, jen
