Cool Crescent Rolls, Beautiful Biscuits – Late Summer Treats!
After last week’s “5 Creative Pizzas” post, I thought it would be fun to find some smaller dishes that use Pillsbury biscuits and crescent rolls. If you have hungry mouths to feed, just coming home from their first day back at school, then you’ll surely find these useful. Most of these are pretty simple, versatile recipes though, and could be easily adjusted to fit any meal, of any size, for anybody.
We’ll start off with something for your little ones. These Stuffed Crescent Rolls feature a winning combo of cheese, onions, sausage, beef, pepperoni, and pizza sauce inside of lovely Pillsbury crescent rolls and were served up with a side order of macaroni and cheese. On second thought… you probably don’t have to be that little to enjoy these :)

“Sam’s Zucchini Quiche” is a recipe the blogger obtained from a friend and urges you to try “even if you’re not a quiche fan”. Once again using the crescent rolls, as well as zucchini, onion, mozzarella cheese, and some spices, this quiche can be made easy in just under 30 minutes.

To answer the question, “How do you make Sloppy Joe’s not so sloppy?” this blogger has adapted a recipe from the Pillsbury site known as Sloppy Joe Biscuit Rounds. To say these are easy to make wouldn’t do justice to how delicious they must be. Using Pillsbury Grands Biscuits, plus ground beef, ketchup, mustard, onions, and cheese, these blogger kept her 3 girls happy with something that could be a snack, side dish, or even the main course.

It’s funny that you’ll find more pizza sauce in this week’s headlines than in last week’s pizza-themed ones. Nevertheless, this blogger enjoys making what she calls, “Pizza Bubbles” for her 2 kids using Pillsbury biscuits. A pizza sauce, cheese, and pepperoni mixture then becomes a dipping sauce before baking for about 15 minutes. She says they were her favorite recipe as a kid and are now a favorite among her whole family.

Another easy treat known as a Barbeque Cup instructs you to place biscuits in a muffin pan. Separately, you’ll create a concoction of hamburger meat, barbeque sauce, onions, and brown sugar that, when ready, is spooned into each of the biscuit cups and then topped with cheddar cheese. This is another really easy one that should prove as a delight for young ones, but that could be used as an entrée.

Last but not least, we have something a little bit different. In addition to the 8 tasty recipes this blogger found on the Pillsbury website, she also found something you may not have noticed before. For those of you with children starting back to school this time of year, Pillsbury has some free, downloadable lunch box notes with fun messages and Dough Boy pictures.

Like I said earlier, these are all pretty flexible in terms of what extra ingredients could be incorporated. Let us know if you can think of a way to improve upon any of these recipes or if you’ve ever tried something similar for your family or friends.
