Headlines: 5 Creative Pizzas!!
I believe there’s a type of pizza out there for everyone. This week, we tracked down some highly imaginative pizzas, only a few of which actually use pizza dough (and only one that uses tomatoes).
BBQ Chicken Pizza has surprisingly become somewhat of a standard these days, yet everyone has their own take on it. One blogger went with a Rachel Ray original concept, skipped the green apples the recipe called for, and came out with something she seemed quite pleased with. Using Pillsbury pizza dough, this recipe also features bacon bits, green onions, and all the mozzarella cheese you can handle.

Though this Sesame Garlic Veggie Pizza uses a Pillsbury product, the blogger actually went with the crescent rolls instead of the pizza dough! Featuring red bell peppers, yellow squash, carrots, cucumbers, zucchini, broccoli, and of course the sesame garlic seasoning, this is definitely not your old Italian ristorante pizza. This highly original dish is very colorful and might make as good of an appetizer as it would an entrée.

Yet another blogger finds Pillsbury crescent rolls to be preferable to the pizza dough! This Vegan Veggie Pizza is similar to the last only with tomatoes, soy cheddar cheese, ranch dressing, tofu-based cream cheese. While I’ve commented on the amazing photo skills of some of our Pillsbury users out there, this recipe actually appears on a true photography blog—and what amazing photos they are! Plus, you don’t have to be vegan (or even vegetarian) to think this looks super-delicious.

The Roanoke Times of Southwestern Virginia features a cooking blog called “Fridge Magnet” and this week she posted a Zucchini Pizza recipe that called for Pillsbury pizza dough. Using zucchini, along with extra-virgin olive oil, and ricotta and mozzarella cheese, you too can create this relatively easy recipe, which is also a Rachel Ray original (the blogger says the popular television chef picked it up on a trip to Rome). One comment left on the blog suggests readers might want to use more seasoning than what it calls for.

After a nice pizza dinner, you’ll surely want to follow up with a nice Pizza-Cookie dessert! In addition to using Pillsbury Chocolate Chip Flavored Dough, you’ll need some vanilla ice cream. She also hints at some ways you might spice things up a bit, such as white chocolate macadamia nuts, peanut butter chocolate cookie dough, or even just more chocolate chips. This pizza cookie, or “pizookie”, is nothing short of amazing. Just be sure you don’t skip dinner.

What’s your fun or creative pizza recipe? We’re going to be open minded here so anything that even comes close to being a pizza is fair game. That being said, I still love a good old, traditional slice of pizza.
