The Best Halloween Recipe Blogs of 2009!

Halloween has arrived! This week we’re serving up spooky snacks and terrifying(ly delicious) treats. Here’s some of the most creative Halloween creations we’ve found that use Pillsbury products!

Freaky Finger Breadsticks
One of the best things about Halloween recipes is they tend to be pretty quick ‘n easy and this one is no exception. To make the Freaky Fingers, take your Pillsbury Breadstick Dough and mix a few pieces of it with some red food coloring. These will be the fingernails, with the rest of the dough being the fingers. Are you scared yet?

Halloweenies
This one is based on the Pillsbury recipe for Crescent Roll Mummy Dogs, although this blogger gives it an extra special touch. While the original recipe suggests using ketchup and mustard for the eyes and mouth, this recipe suggests either Dijon Mustard with one tablespoon of oregano or honey. This recipe has been seen a lot around the blogosphere in the last couple of weeks, but these blog really thought outside the coffin.

Pumpkin-Ginger Pie with Gingersnap Streusel
Nothing says Halloween like a great, big pumpkin and this blogger has found a tasty use for the pumpkin’s innards. There is a pumpkin pie base, but with a gingersnap cookie and pecan streusel topping that looks simply amazing in the photos. As always, Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crusts are the standard for all your Halloween pie making endeavors.

Pillsbury Halloween Cookies
This blogger recently made some colorful Pillsbury Sugar Cookies with creative Halloween-themed frosting that look almost too artistic to eat. She comments on how much fun it was to do the icing with her children and to wait and see how the final product turned out.

Depths-of-Fall Butternut Squash Pie
Filled with butternut squash, pears, and various dried fruit such as apples and cranberries, this pie is, as the blogger puts it, “a beautiful thing.” She suggests using only a top crust, so the flavor inside isn’t overpowered, and gives it a Halloween touch by cutting a pumpkin shape out of its middle. This pie might be just in time for Halloween, but it will still be just as appropriate when Thanksgiving rolls around!
